英語と日本語、2つの言語で学ぶ
DLPはグローバル社会に貢献できる人材の育成を目的とし、日本語と英語、2つの言語を駆使して4年間学んでいく少人数制のプログラムです。DLPでは、卒業に必要な学部専門科目を主に英語で履修します。同時に、日本語で行われる科目も、学生一人ひとりの興味関心に合わせて履修することができます。DLPでの学びを通して培った日本語と英語の高度な運用能力と深い専門知識を使って、グローバル化する社会が直面する問題に柔軟に対応できる力を身につけることを目指します。

国際コース選抜入試で選抜します。入学後、2年次からDLPで学ぶこともできます。

DLPを選んだ理由を教えてください。
高校時代に寮生活と米国留学を経験し、文化の違いによるコミュニケーションの難しさを感じていました。DLPでは少人数クラスで英語で授業を受けることができること、リアルなコミュニケーションを体現しながら双方向で伝え伝えられる授業があることに魅力を感じました。
DLPで学ぶことで、どのような刺激を受けていますか？
自分とは異なるバックグラウンドを持つ学生が多く、自分の価値観だけでは通じないことが頻繁に起こるため、物事を多面的に捉えることを意識しています。おかげで留学だけでは得られない、唯一無二の学生生活を送ることができていると感じます。
英語・日本語の両言語で学ぶことのメリットは何ですか？
CIC以外にも英語で授業を受講できる大学は少なくありません。しかし、CICのDLPでは英語と日本語を駆使して、コミュニケーションや異文化に関する専門知識を学ぶ必要があります。英語と日本語では、話し方やジェスチャー、話題の展開のしかたが異なります。これを日々意識して英語と日本語を使い分けることで、複数言語を効果的に用いる手法を身につけることができます。
高校生に向けて、DLPの魅力を伝えてください。
DLPでは社会で必要とされるコミュニケーション能力を養うことができます。もちろん、それぞれの分野の専門知識を学ぶことも大切ですが、専門知識を活かして社会に影響を与える大人になるためには、コミュニケーション力と対人力が不可欠です。その点、DLPでは複数言語を用いて異文化コミュニケーションする力を体得できる。つまり、複数言語を使いこなせる大人になるだけでなく、周囲に影響を与える大人になることができるのです。

Q. What is the DLP program like and who should apply?
A. DLP students come from many different types of backgrounds, including some who have lived abroad for different periods of time as well as some who have never lived abroad. However, all DLP students come able and ready to handle academic subjects in English as well as have a keen interest in intercultural communication issues.
Q. What are DLP classes like?
A. Most DLP classes have a small teacher-to-student ratio and are largely focused on discussions, group work, writing reports, and making presentations. In short, they are interactive and expect students to develop the skills to express ideas and analyze issues.
Q. Can I improve my English in the DLP program?
A. The goal of the DLP program is not to develop students’ English language abilities. The goal is to develop students' abilities in learning through English, which in turn will provide more opportunities on the global stage.
Q. How many classes will I have to take in Japanese?
A. DLP students will take Basic Seminar, an academic skills course in Japanese. DLP students are also encouraged to take other courses that are conducted in Japanese to develop their Japanese academic ability.
