Responsible for a variety of tasks related to IT-related projects

When looking for a job, I had in mind the idea that I wanted to use my language abilities in a global setting. And I found it. I am currently employed in a general consulting firm, handling a variety of different tasks on a project basis. I am assigned to IT-related projects. The content of my responsibilities varies for each, but covers areas such as database administration, defining system requirements, creating screen design documents, and writing manuals. Although I studied languages and culture in depth at CIC, I had never studied computer technology or coding. I brought this up in my job interview but was told that I could learn through in-house study and on-the-job training, and I decided to join the company.

The joy of moving from I can’t to I can!

Although training was offered after I joined the company, the difference between my skills and those of the other members of the team was significant, and I found things very difficult at first. I worked hard to catch up with the others, and my technical skills have gradually improved. While I still don’t feel that I am as technologically proficient as others on the team, the difference in how much I have improved compared to my level when I first joined the company is clear. I felt genuine joy when I was able to do something that I had previously thought impossible at work, which has only increased my motivation to work harder.

It’s important to ask questions if you don't understand right away

I enrolled at CIC because I was interested in interpreting and translating. I actively use the language skills I acquired in university in my current role, which involves frequent collaboration with teams from India, China, and the Philippines, and I often act as an interpreter between Japanese teams and those overseas.
Looking back, my time studying at CIC was rich in opportunities to discover things that I had no knowledge of and broadened my perspective significantly. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand something immediately. But make sure you ask questions. At CIC I learned that it’s also important that the questions you ask are appropriate. This experience was invaluable in helping me to overcome challenging times in my career. Going forward I hope to achieve solid results in my work while also spending valuable time with my family and friends, leading a rich, fulfilling life.
